Quick Start: Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education
About Quick Start

The Certified Economic Developer Trainer (CEDT) program was established in 1989 with the mission of achieving quality and consistency across the state in the delivery of the Quick Start program and DTAE economic development services. Quick Start administers the program, which provides professional development for Quick Start and technical college staff members who are involved in supporting business and industry in their communities.

The CEDT program goal is to assure that all Georgia businesses receive the highest level of professional support in workforce development for comprehensive Quick Start job training and technical college contract training. Candidates participate in an 18-month certification program, during which they build their understanding of Georgia’s economic development resources and learn to develop and apply them to meet the needs of qualified industries in the state. CEDT candidates learn techniques for analyzing a company’s business operations and related training needs, preparing training plans, implementing training, evaluating training results and servicing existing industries.
