Washington, Ga., February 2009 – New jobs are coming to Wilkes County as fiberglass manufacturer AFG, USA opens a new manufacturing facility in Washington, Ga. Approximately 25 positions are being created at startup of the facility, and recently the company signed an agreement with Georgia Quick Start and Athens Technical College to provide state-of-the-art training for the new employees.
A leading supplier and distributor of a wide range of fiberglass products and glass fiber textiles to both domestic and international customers, AFG, USA is an American company with manufacturing partnerships in South Korea, Thailand, China and Taiwan.
“We will make the new AFG, USA production facility in Washington one of the best in the industry,” said company founder Madanjit “OB” Oberoi. “Our commitment is to growth and superior quality through continuous improvement.”
Quick Start is Georgia’s internationally acclaimed economic development program that provides customized workforce training at no cost to qualified new, expanding and existing businesses in Georgia. Since 1967, Quick Start has trained more than 600,000 employees through 5,100 projects with a broad range of industries.

The Quick Start training agreement was developed based on a Project Study that was conducted at AFG, USA in Alpharetta and Washington, Ga. The training agreement is based on AFG, USA’s commitment to provide approximately 25 new jobs for Georgians in the Washington area. Quick Start will be designing and developing training material, as well as providing instructors, for the classes.
The training program involves three distinct partners: AFG, USA, Athens Technical College and Quick Start. Each partner will be responsible for the successful completion of this program. The partnership will not end when the Quick Start training is completed. Athens Technical College will be available to assist AFG, USA with ongoing training programs.
