EFACEC Power Transformers Announces Groundbreaking and Quick Start Training Initiative

Rincon, Ga. – EFACEC Power Transformers is bringing a new production facility and 700 jobs to Effingham County. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the 470,000-square-foot facility were held recently at the company’s new location, a 55-acre parcel of land at the corner of Highway 21 and Ebenezer Road in the Effingham Industrial Park in Rincon. The event was hosted by the Effingham County Development Authority.

Employees at the Rincon facility will manufacture shell-type, core-type and mobile electrical power transformers for major U.S. utility customers including Georgia Power and Florida Power. Parent company The EFACEC Group, based in Portugal, employs around 2,000 people and is established in more than 50 countries.

EFACEC has announced a training partnership with Georgia Quick Start and Savannah Technical College in support of the new production facility. Quick Start is Georgia’s internationally acclaimed economic development program that provides customized workforce training at no cost to qualified new, expanding and existing businesses in Georgia. Since 1967, Quick Start has trained more than 600,000 employees through 5,100 projects with a broad range of industries.

EFACEC began the hiring process in September and will fill approximately 300 jobs during the first phase of the operation. Quick Start will design and develop the training programs and materials as well as provide instructors to deliver the custom-designed programs for these employees. The Quick Start training program for EFACEC includes job-specific training for the manufacturing process, organizational skills, safety, quality control, and cross-cultural training for effective employee relations.

“At Quick Start, we’re proud to be a partner to a world-class firm like EFACEC that is bringing jobs and technology to Georgia,” said Quick Start’s leader, Jackie Rohosky, assistant commissioner of economic development programs for the Technical College System of Georgia.

Three distinct parties are involved in the partnership: EFACEC Power Transformers, Savannah Technical College and Georgia Quick Start. The partnership will not end when the Quick Start training is completed. Savannah Technical College will be available to assist EFACEC Power Transformers with ongoing training programs and to provide graduates for potential employment with the company.

“Savannah Technical College is very pleased to have EFACEC as our next-door neighbor and partner. We look forward to a long-term relationship that is mutually beneficial,” said Terry Elam, interim president of Savannah Technical College.
