Industry-veteran Eddie Fite tapped to lead workforce training efforts in Georgia’s eastern region
Atlanta, April 4, 2012 -- TCSG Assistant Commissioner Jackie Rohosky announced today that long-time Quick Start training manager Eddie Fite will head up Quick Start’s eastern operations. The eastern region stretches from Columbia and Richmond counties in the north to Camden County in the south, and includes cities such as Augusta, Brunswick, Savannah, and Statesboro. It’s an area that has been chosen for numerous advanced manufacturing projects recently.
“Eddie’s industry experience and his unsurpassed performance in developing innovative workforce training, makes him the perfect director to lead the Savannah office,” said Assistant Commissioner Rohosky, who heads up Quick Start.
As director of eastern operations, Fite will be the primary Quick Start point of contact for economic development projects involving the region’s technical colleges: Altamaha Technical College, Augusta Technical College, Ogeechee Technical College, Okefenokee Technical College, and Savannah Technical College.
“This is a real honor and an exciting professional challenge,” Fite said. “Quick Start has a sterling reputation for developing and delivering customized workforce training, and I’m looking forward to helping companies in our area create jobs and build a better Georgia.”
Before being named director of the Savannah office, Fite worked as project operations manager for Quick Start’s eastern operations. In that role, Fite led training projects for dozens of companies, including high-profile clients such as Mitsubishi Power Systems, Kellogg’s Snacks, EZ-GO, and Firth Rixson Forgings.
Fite began his career at General Electric, where he worked for 20 years in numerous positions such as supervisor of quality, assembly and plastics for GE’s Appliance Division. Fite’s industry experience also includes working as human resources manager of Black & Decker’s Kwikset plant in Waynesboro, Ga., business systems development officer at that company’s corporate headquarters in Irvine, Ca., senior management positions at Roper Corporation in LaFayette, Ga., and as a organizational development consultant for clients including GE, Allied Signal, Pillsbury, Sony, Emerson and other Fortune 500 companies.
Fite has earned a bachelor’s degree in Adult and Technical Education from the University of Tennessee, and has been awarded the well-respected industry credential of Certified Economic Developer Trainer.
