The soaring success of Bass Pro Shops is part product mix, part theatrical and evocative environmental decor and part having the right products on the shelves.

The company's new state-of-the art distribution facility in Macon is allowing its customers to go back-stage.

The 420-thousand square foot building includes an observation area that showcases cutting-edge mobile warehouse equipment darting in and out between aisles guided by a wireless system embedded in the floor, moving in precision to manage thousands of products from kayaks to tiny fishing lures — 78,000 products in all.

Quick Start has been a part of the action since Bass Pro began making plans. We built a simulated warehouse for training and created videos, animation and multimedia technology.

Having a well-trained workforce using Quick Start allowed Bass Pro to move up the schedule of transferring stores to the new distribution center by a month compared to the former system.

Burt Bethea, Quick Start training coordinator, says the Quick Start process helped reduce turnover and gave employees a solid understanding of their job.

"Before, someone would inventory a new shipment on the floor and then take it to a clerk to input into the computer system. Now, the second you put something on a shelf and scan it with an RF scanner, the entire company knows where it is."

Walmart

Walmart helps you save money and live better.

Quick Start is here to help Walmart accomplish that.

11,500 stores. $482 billion in revenue. The largest grocer in the United States and the second largest online retailer. And the largest employer in the country.

That's Walmart.

Now look over at the map of Walmart distribution centers in Georgia.

Because of our state's strategic location and the quality of our workforce, Walmart counts on Georgia Quick Start to help deliver the goods.

Our processes helped reduce turnover at the Statesboro Distribution Center by more than half.

At Walmart's distribution center in Carrollton, regional manager of Walmart specialty Bob Duron said, "Within weeks, Quick Start project managers came in understanding the functionality of the system and process flow. Quick Start is a very flexible, intelligent, sharp group of people working together toward a common goal.

Georgia Quick Start played a significant part in helping us develop the tools we need to get these people aboard quickly."

Carter's

Here to serve the Moms of America

Which requires an adaptable workforce that Quick Start helps train.

When you press "Buy Now" on the carters.com or oshkosh.com websites, employees at the company's distribution center in Brasleton, Georgia get right on the task of preparing your order.

Getting the right product to you quickly requires a 1 million+ square foot warehouse and a trained workforce of 700 people that sometimes looks like consumers darting from aisle to aisle.

"Our associates know the each package is a direct link to Mom," says Christie Craig, manager of learning/development and communications.

Quick Start works with Carter's to ensure employees are well trained in technology and procedures no matter where they work in the operation.

Steve Wittery, director of fulfillment at the center says, "We don't want three separate staffs in e-commerce, retail and wholesale. The basic premise of this building is that we need to flex our staff and move them where we need to as business changes across each sector."
